The Horizon College and Seminary in Saskatoon will have a new building in about a year. The ground-breaking was Wednesday evening for the multi-denominational evangelical Christian leadership college. The two-story state-of-the-art multi-use building will feature modular classrooms with moveable walls so the rooms can adjust to class sizes and serve as meeting spaces.
College President Jeromey Martini says 22-thousand square foot structure next to Forest Grove Community Church and across from the Cathedral on Attridge Drive is special for its collaboration. Martini says having the Christian Missionary Alliance, Mennonite Brethren, the Church of God and Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada work together gives the project added significance.
The college which has been offering Christian leadership training for over 80 years has about 60 students at its current campus and Martini says they hope to expand to about 100 when the new building opens.
Martini says they have also been upgrading their technology in hopes of increasing the live-streaming option to more out of town students. Horizon students who come from diverse backgrounds and a wide range of ages can get degrees or certificates in Theology as well as Media Studies and Business through partnerships with other schools.
