The status quo for one dormant local sports organization could change in about a month-and-a-half!
Before you get too excited that someone has a jump on the current COVID-19 threat coming to an end, all that the Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association is looking at is opening on-line registrations for the 2020-21 season…so long as there is one!
“Our on-line registration for the 2020-21 season opens May 15th and typically goes until the end of June,” explained S-M-H-A Executive Director Kelly Boes. “We’re still proceeding like we can register on-line. That’s really not considered a ‘sanctioned activity’, so we’ll still be able to register. We more than likely will encounter some bumps along the way and (we) have to delay and/or extend the registration process. I guess we’ll be at the mercy of this pandemic and the powers that be to tell us when and where we can do things.”
Hockey Canada is “The power at be” that Boes was referring to. He added that, if on-line registrations open as scheduled, fees won’t likely have to be paid until the green light for starting next season is given. More with Kelly Boes can be found by clicking on the “podcast” tab.
