SARCAN is suggesting you avoid dropping off recycling for the rest of the summer and consider using their Drop and Go program and they are encouraging one adult recycler per family per trip.
SARCAN re-opens to the public today. The Drop and Go is a program which requires one time registration. Their workers will count your beverage containers and you can choose to either receive your deposit refund electronically through PayPal, or donate it to a registered charity or bottle drive.
Some of the things you will notice are strict physical distancing measures, there are physical barriers to limit contact between SARCAN employees and the public. Recycling Guides will be on hand and visible to help customers while maintaining public health protocols.
The number of customers allowed in SARCAN recycling depots will be limited and line ups could be longer than normal and could include standing outside.
Only one customer is allowed in the Drop and Go areas at a time and if you’re coming to pick up a cheque or if you only have Paint or Electronics, see the Recycling Guide. And to speed things up you could sort the containers by material type such as plastic containers in one bag and milk jugs in another and make sure you remove all caps from all the containers.
