SaskTel says it will increase its investment in the Government of Saskatchewan’s Wireless Saskatchewan initiative to $107 million. As part of this, SaskTel plans to deploy 74 new macro cell towers in under-served rural and resort communities by early next summer.
Minister Responsible for SaskTel Don Morgan says, “As many as 35,000 rural residents will benefit from improved cellular coverage.”
Wireless Saskatchewan is a multi-phase initiative designed to increase connectivity in rural parts of the province. Once this final phase of the program is complete, SaskTel’s wireless network will grow to include about 1,000 cell towers province wide.
