$60.00 will buy you a 2′ x 2′ chunk of the old artificial turf at Griffiths Stadium.
With upgrades being made to the home of the U of S football and soccer teams, the 14-year-old mod sod is being taken out and replaced with new stuff…part of $3.14 million worth of funding from the provincial government. Proceeds from the sale of the old artificial turf will go towards supporting either the football program, either soccer team, either track and field squad, the College of Kiniesiology or campus recreation programs. The decision is the buyers to make. Buyers of turf will also receive a letter of authenticity that the Griffiths Stadium turf is really that. Following is the news release from Huskie Athletics…

SASKATOON – For over 14 years the turf at Griffiths Stadium inside Nutrien Park has played host to some of the most thrilling moments in Huskie history, from the first Vanier Cup hosted outside of Ontario in 2006 to a playoff win just last Fall, this turf has seen it all.
With the much-needed upgrades currently ongoing to Griffiths Stadium – made possible by $3.14 million in funding from the Government of Saskatchewan – including a brand-new playing surface, you now have the chance to own a part of Huskie history by purchasing a 2′ x 2′ section of the turf on which so many memories were created.
Huskie football has won a total of 46 games on this turf, including a perfect mark of 5-0 just last season. In recent history some longstanding records have been broken on this very field including Sean Stenger moving into first in the Huskie record books for career points in 2018 and Adam Machart breaking the team’s single season rushing mark in 2019.
“The old turf at Griffiths served us well over its lifespan but we are really excited for all the future successes on our brand-new field,” said Huskie football head coach Scott Flory. ” We didn’t know it at the time, but reflecting back on walking off of that turf last November after our playoff win was a fitting last game on the old field.”
Priced at $60, proceeds from the sale of every section of turf will go towards supporting either the Huskie football, soccer, track & field programs, the College of Kinesiology or campus recreation. You get the option to choose which program you’d like your purchase to support. Shipping charges will apply to purchases from outside the Greater Saskatoon area.
Furthermore, all purchases will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity proving that you own a piece of University of Saskatchewan, Huskie Athletics and Saskatoon sporting history.
