Mark Mills has been a business owner for over 40 years and has lived in Ward 3 for 35 years. He considers his best advantage over the other 7 candidates in his ward is his experience, saying, with age comes wisdom.
Mills believes police and fire services must grow with the city, because as Saskatoon expands, so do the needs for additional staff and equipment. But, he also believes in fiscal responsibility and says it’s time to get back to the basics on Council and reconsider some of the higher expense projects.
Mills says he isn’t against a new library, but suggests it needs to be pared down and put on the back burner for now until the economy has recovered.
He’s against the idea of having an arena downtown, possibly on the city works department property, because it’s valuable land that could be sold to developers and because parking would be a problem. His suggestion is to build a multi-functional complex west of Kensington and Blairmore where there is more room.
