Statistics Canada has been watching police-reported crime and calls for service during the pandemic. In the period from December to February, The big numbers in Saskatoon involved domestic disturbances and disputes. There were 566 reports in December, 648 in January and 578 in February. Regina Police experienced the same thing with domestic calls dominating; they reported 402, 458, and 360 in the same months.
Another problem for Saskatoon Police involved people refusing to comply with an order; 366 in December, 330 in January and 250 in February.
Another significant problem concerned breaking and entering; 198 reports in December, 258 in January, and 219 in February.
Particularly disturbing are the calls for service involving suicides and attempted suicides. There were 164 calls in December, 196 in January and 167 in February.
