As the province remains blanketed in heat warnings, Saskatoon and Lucky Lake Saskatchewan get the honours yesterday (Fri) for having the highest temperatures in the province.  Both communities saw the mercury rise to 40 degrees Celsius. In Saskatoon overnight temperature also remained above 20 degrees. Those two locations were also the hotspots in Canada on Friday.  While day time highs for Friday haven’t been issued by Environment Canada as yet, Meterologist Janelle Gergley says there were 35 records broken across the province on Friday.

Both Saskatoon and Prince Albert hit their daily records.  Saskatoon at exactly 40 degrees, and Prince Albert hit 36.2 degrees.  Saskatoon’s previous record for July 2nd was 33.4 degrees.  The highest temperature ever recorded in Saskatoon was 41.5 degrees back in 1988.
