After a report of an armed robbery Wednesday morning, there is an increased presence of police around the Sturgeon Lake First Nation and in the RM. of Buckland north of Prince Albert. The search continues for two people in connection to an RCMP investigation which began with a vehicle theft this morning just before 10 in the RM. Prince Albert RCMP report that the initial alert was for a theft of a white truck which involved a firearm. The vehicle was quickly located, but investigators were unable to stop the truck.
Police believe the suspects may be armed. Investigators say the incident may be related to a robbery with a firearm which occurred on Saturday on the Little Red River First Nation, which resulted in charges against 25 year old Glen Frederick Halkett of Sturgeon Lake First Nation. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Halkett may be in the communities of Little Red River First Nation, Sturgeon Lake First Nation, Prince Albert, Shellbrook or Ahtahkakoop First Nation, but that is not confirmed. Police say Halkett should not be approached if you see him. Call 911 instead.
