Depending on how the vote goes, there may be some new faces around the table at the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations. Aly Bear is running for third vice chief in the upcoming elections.

Aly Bear is a single mother of two who has recently been admitted to the bar. She is the first band member at Whitecap Dakota First Nation to become a lawyer. She says she has made significant strides for Whitecap in the area of self-determination and Treaty negotiation. Her father, Darcy Bear, has been Chief at Whitecap for 30 years.

Each Chief and Councillor across the province will get to vote in the FSIN election on October 28th.
