A letter addressed to city council regarding unkept properties along major Saskatoon streets appears to have gotten the attention of the Saskatoon Fire Department and the City of Saskatoon. Ken Achs, President and CEO of the Mid-West Group sent the letter stating that some properties along streets such as Faithfull Avenue, Idylwyld Drive and Airport Drive aren’t keeping their properties as clean as they should be.
When the letter was addressed during the Planning, Development and Community Services committee meeting Monday, Assistant Fire Chief Yvonne Raymer said that the fire department took a proactive approach to the properties listed by Achs and that the fire department has taken note of those properties.
The real estate developer says summers are short and that we only get one chance to make a first impression. Raymer noted maintenance issues are currently only complaint driven, although she did mention that the fire department would like to take a proactive approach to the program down the road.
