A pair of protests with opposing views took place at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building on the weekend.
Protesters were calling for Premier Scott Moe to keep all current health orders in place, with others were calling for all mandates to be removed.
One of the protesters, Kimm Reid, who owns a business in both Canada and the United States, says she has been personally affected by the mandates.
“I cannot get to my own company. It’s very frustrating and it could potentially cost me my business and my livelihood.”
A steady stream of vehicles were going south on Saturday down Highway 11 with many sporting Canadian, or Canadian and Saskatchewan flags, heading for the Regina convoy and protest. In Regina, anti-vaccine mandate protesters ended up occupying Albert Street near the Legislative Building, blocking the right-hand lanes both north and south bound. Tow trucks moved in on Sunday night and most of the vehicles left of their own accord.
Saskatchewan Liberal Party leader Jeff Walters organized a protest calling for the Saskatchewan government to keep all current health orders in place and he says, “We really just want to express our displeasure at the Moe government’s ignoring experts’ advice and advice of those on the ground when making decisions that affect our lives in regards to COVID.”
