A couple of ice sculpters in Saskatoon are part of Canada’s Winterlude.
Peter Fogarty and Jeffery Book were among the ten teams representing each Canadian province and were charged with creating a sculpture with the theme Olympic and Paralympic Spirit.
Fogarty says it was a bit of a push because customarily in a competition of this size with about 2000 kilograms of ice in the past they’ve always had 33 hours and this particular event was 20 hours.
He says the sculpture is more than a depiction of the Olympic rings. There is a para-olympic curler in the centre with a child curling on one side and a woman curling on the other side.
Voting for your favourite sculpture starts today (February 11th) and the winner will be announced on the 20th. The ice sculpture is located near the skating rink by the Bessborough.
