RCMP say the Amber Alert issued for two children Saturday in northern B.C. has been cancelled.
Police say they have ended the alert after an alleged parental abduction ended peacefully. The alert was initiated when Fort St. John RCMP believed that a 36-year-old man had taken a mother and her two children against their will and may have been in danger. A statement from the RCMP says all four were found with the vehicle they were said to be in by the Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora, Ontario, just east of Manitoba by 6:30 p.m. eastern time. The man was then taken into custody. The mother and two children are safe and are receiving support.
Prior to police locating the four individuals, the alert was extended to all three prairie provinces including Saskatchewan. This happened after police believed the suspect was heading east.
The investigation is continuing and Fort St. John RCMP will work with OPP to further the investigation. The suspect remains in custody and police say charges are pending.
CJWW News has removed the names of those involved as the alert has been cancelled.
