New grant money announced in the provincial budget for Creative Saskatchewan is welcomed with open arms. The Government of Saskatchewan announced an increase of $8-million for the Creative Saskatchewan Production Grant Program for film and television during last week’s budget, bringing the total funds available to $10-million.
Megan Jane with Creative Saskatchewan says this is not only good news for the industry right now but also for the future. She believes there will be a number of impacts. It means more people being hired, and then the spinoff of that is more money being spent in this province. Jane adds that it also means people interested in this industry don’t have to leave the province to get their start.
The Saskatchewan Media Production Industry Association says there are shovel-ready projects ready to move into production. (CKRM)
