Prairie Spirit School Division says a major renovation is underway at the Walter W. Brown School in Langham.
The exterior of the Grade 6-12 school is getting a face lift which includes a new roof, windows, insulation, improvements to the school’s entry, a new heating and ventilation system and a new sprinkler system. Renos begin this spring and are scheduled for completion in late fall 2022.
The upgrades actually lay the ground work for possible future renovations like expanding the school to accommodate all Langham students and consolidating it with the elementary school in the community.
Darryl Bazylak, Director of Education, says, “With the extensive upgrades to Walter W. Brown School that are currently underway, the Division is requesting the funds needed to consolidate the two schools in Langham into one renovated and expanded facility.”
This request was included in the Division’s Major Capital Request list submission to the Ministry of Education. The current renovation is expected to cost $3.5 million.
Prairie Spirit School Division is also submitting capital request that include the Leask Community School Revitalization Project budgeted at $8.028 million and a request for a new joint use high school in partnership with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, the Cities of Warman and Martensville and the RM of Corman Park, for the Warman/Martensville area
