It took 15 months, but with the help of the Calgary Police Service, Charmaine Brett Bear is in custody.
She will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Friday at 9:30 a.m. to face charges in connection with reports of alleged child abuse. An investigation began with North Battleford R-C-M-P and the detachment’s General Investigation Services in December, 2020. Also known as Charmaine Spyglass, the 34-year-old from Battleford had been travelling with 35-year-old Lyle Aaron Bear until he was arrested. From there, Charmaine evaded police by staying on the run between Edmonton, Lloydminster, North Battleford, Saskatoon and the Mosquito First Nation. She was arrested without incident in Calgary and will face charges of failing to provide the necessities of life, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, two counts of assault and two counts of uttering threats.
