The founders of the “Ambulances to Ukraine” project in 2016, which sent 14 ambulances to that country, is now raising funds to send over 500 field trauma kits for the current invasion of Ukraine. Inside them, Ukrainians will find medical equipment and supplies like gauze, bandages, blood pressure cuffs, and anything else needed to deal with things like shrapnel injuries.
The kits are $500 each and spokesperson Dave Dutchak is hoping individuals, families and groups will do what they can to help. He says that when they have been shipped, Ukrainians will know they are supported by Canada when they see the red trauma kits. It sends the message that Canadians care.
Dutchak says one donation that tugs at his heart was from Yorkton students who bought four, for a total of $2,000. You can donate through the Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan’s website. At this point, just under 200 trauma kits have been funded.
