Friday was another active day for weather in parts of Saskatchewan. One tornado was confirmed near Allan, a town located about 65 kilometres southeast of Saskatoon around 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
Around that time, CJWW listeners had sent in pictures of a funnel cloud in the area.
Brad Vrolijk with Environment Canada says they’ll be investigating a second possible tornado that happened later in the day Friday near Edgeley.
“We can’t confirm that at this point. We did have photographs sent to us of a funnel cloud for sure, but instead of it being open in the clear air, as it was starting to move towards the ground, the tornado got wrapped in rain and it became very difficult to see.”
Vrolijk said they were sent a lot of stunning photos of clouds from those attending Country Thunder in Craven. He said the storms remained north and east of the festival site.
The tornado near Allan follows the previous Friday which saw four tornadoes touch down in the province. Three from one storm near Paynton, Saskatchewan and one near Blaine Lake.
