Fred Fox says that they are celebrating being able to have a Terry Fox run in person this year.
The Terry Fox run is today in Saskatoon and Fred Fox, Terry’s brother, was in the city earlier this week to officially raise the Terry Fox Run flag at Saskatoon City Hall. There are many ways to get involved in the Terry Fox Run including running as a participant, sponsoring a team or an individual.
More than 650 communities in Canada fundraise for cancer research in memory of Terry Fox and his goal to run across Canada after having lost his leg to cancer.
He dipped his artificial leg in the Atlantic Ocean on April 12th, 1980 and it was only when cancer which moved into his lungs that stopped Terry from reaching the Pacific Ocean. He was forced to end the run September 1st, 1980 after having run 5,373 kilometres.
