Megan Gallagher has been missing for two years, but there was a break in the case recently when 27 year old Bobby Thomas was arrested and charged with first degree murder in Prince George, British Columbia.
Earlier this spring and summer, four people were charged with indignity to human remains.
Megan’s sister, Lindsey Bishop, stood with her family at Saskatoon Police Headquarters as the news was made public, on the two year anniversary of Megan being missing.
Lindsey will soon be heading back to Ontario to continue her cross-country walk , raising awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, in honour of her sister .
She began the walk in Victoria last February and the goal is to walk to St. John’s, Newfoundland, meeting families and loved ones of those who are missing and murdered, and community allies.
She says, “It’s painfully beautifully beautiful to see the strength and resilience. The stories that we hear are heartbreaking at times, but also, they fill your heart because you see the strength of the people”.
With a catch in her throat, Lindsey tells reporters she finds strength in knowing that her sister is with her in spirit wherever she is and that she would be proud.
She hopes to hold a news conference in the nation’s capital before continuing on to Newfoundland.
