Prince Albert Police Patrol officers encountered a large, black bear within the city limits around midnight (Tues) in the 1300 block of 2nd Avenue West. The officers report that the bear began moving through a nearby residential area and then into a yard in the 300 block of 14th Street West. Several pedestrians were rushed out of the area for public safety concerns.

The Police Service says the officers tried to coax the bear away from the residential area but weren’t successful so the bear was shot out of concern for public safety. No officers or members of the public were injured.
