It was a pleasant month to be outside—but there was no relief for dry topsoil moisture conditions over much of Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada reports only 5.1 millimetres of precipitation was received in Saskatoon last month, which is only 27 per cent of normal. It ended up being the 27th driest October in 124 years. La Ronge set a record with only 3.3 millimetres or only nine per cent of normal October precipitation.
Southern areas of the province benefitted from an October 23 snowstorm. Moose Jaw and Estevan were the only centres to record above normal October precipitation.
October was warmer than normal with central areas recording the mildest temperatures.
