Discover Saskatoon and Tourism Regina say Air Canada’s decision to cut flights to Calgary from Saskatchewan as of January 16th is another blow to the province’s visitor economy that will have a ripple effect on all other sectors.
Discover Saskatoon CEO Stephanie Clovechok underscores that the connectivity and competition of both Air Canada and West Jet offering flights has meant access to Saskatchewan for global markets travelling for business, sporting events, cultural events and leisure travel. She says clients who select Saskatchewan for their events and business will now have to reconsider and recalibrate how they get here. Clovechok suggests this creates acute barriers for visitors to easily access Saskatchewan.
