Trial dates will be set for a Saskatoon woman this morning (Thurs), charged with child abduction in contravention of a custody order, fraud and identity theft. Dawn Walker has elected to have her case tried by judge alone and on Tuesday she waived her right to a preliminary hearing. She hasn’t entered a plea yet.
Saskatoon Police asked for the public’s help to find Walker and her seven-year-old son in July, saying she had last been seen on the 22nd. On Saturday the 23rd, a passerby found Walker’s purse at Chief Whitecap Park south of Saskatoon and turned it in to the RCMP. Then, on the 25th, police reported that her truck was found at that same park. She and her son were found about two weeks later in Oregon.
Along with abduction, Walkers charges include forging a passport, possession of forged documents, identify theft and identity fraud. The United States Department of Homeland Security has also charged her with using a false passport and possession of stolen identification.
