RCMP have issued updated information regarding an assault on the One Arrow First Nation Thursday evening. The original report said a man had a firearm, but further investigation has determined there was no firearm. RCMP are continuing an active search and the suspect is still considered dangerous. Residents of the One Arrow First Nation, about an hour northeast of Saskatoon, are being encouraged to exercise caution. RCMP also thank residents for providing information to assist with the ongoing investigation.
The original report from the RCMP described the incident as a violent assault, and investigators believe the incident was targeted. Around 2 Friday morning on One Arrow First Nation social media, posts began appearing indicating that residents were being asked to lock their doors and windows, to not stand by doors and windows, and that police were investigating an active threat in the community.
The news release from the RCMP indicates officers have been in communication with the leadership at the One Arrow First Nation and the Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section have been called to assist. There will be an increased presence in the community for an undetermined amount of time as officers work to locate the man.
