The Emergency Wellness Centre on Fairmont Drive has received a significant donation of two large deep freezers and several boxes of clothing and winter jackets.
The contribution was made by the Saskatoon Knights of Columbus. Prior to receiving the freezers, the Emergency Wellness Centre did not have any large areas for storing frozen food, and meals for the 106 residents were shuttled from White Buffalo Youth Lodge three times a day.
“The freezers will be used now but will also be a part of phase two for the EWC,” stated Saskatoon Tribal Council Tribal Chief Mark Arcand.
Phase two for the Emergency Wellness Centre includes the creation of a commercial kitchen.
