A Saskatoon resident and avid Meewasin Trail user wants to raise awareness and money for both Meewasin Valley Authority and the Canadian Mental Health Association Saskatoon.
Frances Sreedhar is a mental health professional who has reaped the mental and physical benefits of walking in the Meewasin Valley. Sreedhar wants to spread the word about the link between positive mental health and exercise. The data on Meewasin’s trail visits supports her position.
Last year, 2.32 million visits were tracked, which is up 40 per cent from 2019. Sreedhar’s goal is to hit one million steps on the Meewasin Trail by the end of the month, and she hopes she can raise one-cent per step on her journey.
The funds raised would equal $10, 000 that the walker could use to support both organizations which she so strongly believes in.
