Kitsaki Management Limited Partnership(KMLP) has acquired a 51 per cent interest in AGI Envirotank, a privately-owned manufacturing company that produces storage tanks and distribution equipment for the oil, gas and mining markets in Canada.
KMLP is the Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s economic development arm.
“The first thing we look for in any potential investment is alignment of values with the current ownership team and this box was checked early in our process,” said Ron Hyggen, Kitsaki chief executive officer. “Manufacturing is an industry we have been looking at for some time as it complements the services we currently provide to clients in the same industries across the country.”
AGI Envirotank will retain 49 per cent of the company and continue to oversee the operations, while Kitsaki will provide specialized expertise, strategic guidance and governance support.
AGI Envirotank is located in Biggar and is a family-owned business started by David Burton nearly 30 years ago. The company operates on 27 acres of land with 100,000 square feet of production space in 15 buildings. AGI current employs between 85 to 150 tradespeople annually.
The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is the largest First Nation in Saskatchewan and one of the ten largest in Canada with a population exceeding 12,000 people. KMLP has a diverse portfolio of investments in many sectors including transportation, hospitality, mining, engineering, insurance, technology and forestry.
