A refinished historical sign that is part of the present and previous Prince Albert Police Service buildings is back where it belongs after its restoration.
It was removed on May 9th and was back on the building on the 12th. The Police Service says there is limited information available about the sign, but it was created around 1963 and placed at the front of the previous police headquarters on 8th Street East.
Retired Police Chief Wes Stubbs says the sign is intended to be a symbol of the relationship between the Indigenous community and the police. Current Police Chief Jonathan Bergen says 60 years later, the sign is still representative of that connection. The Prince Albert Police Service has been around for 137 years.
