Saskatchewan RCMP Roving Traffic Unit says it has tallied up charges and drugs seized after several drug busts in May in the Maidstone area.
The RTU partnered with the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol and pulled over a vehicle that Wednesday May 3rd seizing 10 kilograms of cocaine. The police say the seizure will disrupt the supply of illicit drugs across Canada, particularly Saskatchewan. The cocaine was tested and resulted in purity levels as high as 98 per cent.
There was one person in the vehicle and now 32-year-old John Morin of Edmonton is charged with Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of Trafficking. He is in Lloydminster court on June 26.
A traffic stop was conducted May 30 involving Highway Patrol and RTU where police seized approximately six litres of GHB commonly known as a date rape drug which police say could have resulted in 12-hundred individual doses. A small amount of cocaine and meth were also seized.
As a result of the investigation, 40-year-old Warren Stricker of Langham and 42-year-old Quinton Stricker of Saskatoon and facing Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession charges. They’re both in Lloydminster court July 24.
On the morning of May 31st Highway Patrol and the Roving Traffic Unit commenced a traffic stop where they say a large amount of bundled Canadian currency was seen in plain view. Upon further investigation, several more bundles of vacuum-sealed Canadian currency were located, totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Police also located a restricted firearm, with two magazines that both contained ammunition, and a large amount of methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, 46-year-old Mohamed Ilmi of Edmonton is facing a laundry list of weapons and drug charges as well as Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime and Laundering the Proceeds of Crime. He is in Lloydminster Provincial Court July 10.
