The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) has charged Major Steven Hurlbut 431 Squadron with sexual assault.
431 Squadron, more commonly known as the Snowbirds, is based at 15 Wing Moose Jaw.
CFNIS began the investigation into an accusation of sexual misconduct that was alleged to have occurred in Barrie, Ontario.
Hurlbut’s biography says he has been a lead solo pilot with the 431 Squadron since 2021.
CFNIS said in a statement released Monday that the matter will now proceed through the civilian justice system and no further information will be available.
And, as a result of this investigation, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds will perform air displays as an eight-aircraft team for the foreseeable future.
The Snowbirds are scheduled to do a three-to-five-minute fly-over of Saskatoon on Thursday, July 27th to salute Saskatoon Crime Stoppers and its contribution to the community.
