The City of Saskatoon will have its new Community Tipi on display at the Community Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations Wednesday in Victoria Park. There will be programming throughout the day at the tipi beginning with the tipi raising and then tipi teachings and Elder teachings. The whole event is organized by the Saskatoon Indian & Metis Friendship Centre.
As well, 20th Street will be closed between 3rd and 4th avenues on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. for the National Indigenous Peoples Day BBQ event. Detours will be in place guiding motorists. This event is expected to take six hours to complete.
A reminder that the Rock Your Roots Walk for Reconciliation which used to happen on the 21st has been moved to September 30th, the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.
