To ensure everyone was driving to the lake safely last weekend, a check stop was set up in Beauval by Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, and conservation officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch.
During the traffic stop, officers issued five driver’s license suspensions for driving under the influence of cannabis, one 30-day vehicle impoundment for the same charge while having a license already suspended for a previous, similar offence, and one ticket for possessing, consuming or distributing cannabis in a vehicle.
They also issued tickets for driving while suspended, having a loaded firearm in a vehicle, two tickets for speeding, and two tickets for exceeding weight on a trailer.
There were also several fishing-related tickets including one ticket for transporting or possessing angled fish that can’t be counted and two tickets for exceeding angling fishing limits.
Corporal Blair de Bruin from Meadow Lake CTSS reminds the public to abide by provincial regulations so everyone can have a safe summer.
