Great news for commuters who use the Circle Drive North Bridge. It opened during the morning commute today (Tues). The City of Saskatoon says crews were putting finishing touches on the construction project over the weekend. It was actually expected to reopen fully to traffic by late this afternoon. It is within the $10.5 million budget. The bridge has been under construction since the beginning of March and is three weeks ahead of schedule.
Mayor Charlie Clark believes commuters will be happy to see the end of the zipper merge on that stretch of road, after seven months of road work. “Thanks to all of the contractors involved, and I know we are getting better and better at writing city contracts that help ensure these jobs get done as quickly as possible, to be done three weeks early so people can return to a normal commute.” Clark says Administration is always evaluating, to improve the way the City tenders out these kinds of contractors, with more incentives for getting the work done quickly, and by making it as easy as possible to get approvals for the work done quickly, so they can keep moving.
