Premier Scott Moe and the rest of the provincial government is getting ready for the fall legislative session starting Tuesday with many Canadians, including Saskatchewan residents, facing affordability and cost of living issues.
Premier Scott Moe was asked recently about the challenges Saskatchewan residents are facing in regard to affordability, and he admitted there’s more work to do. He says there is more work to do not only in affordability but in how the government can ensure young families, and all families, can have the opportunity for home ownership.
Moe said Saskatchewan is in a better position than many other larger centres across Canada when it comes to affordability but added we’re not without our challenges here. The legislature reconvenes Tuesday, two weeks ahead of schedule, with the contentious school pronouns issue expected to be the first legislation tabled.
The legislation Tuesday would require children under the age of 16 to get parental consent in order to change their names or pronouns at school. Premier Scott Moe, after a judge granted an injunction last month to pause the government policy until it is heard in court, said he will use the notwithstanding clause to push it through.
