A leadership review vote took place today at the NDP convention in Hamilton Ontario.
Party Leader Jagmeet Singh won the support of 81 per cent of delegates, who voted not to hold a leadership convention.
Singh took time to address delegates on several topics including the importance of anti-scab legislation, boiled water advisories, which he says have no purpose existing in Canada, and fulfilling the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation commission.
“Justin Trudeau promise to implement the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, but over seven years, only 13 of 94 recommendations have been fulfilled,” Singh claims.
He also mentioned the potential future implementation of PharmaCare.
“Liberals only act when New Democrats force them. That’s how we got Medicare, and that is how we are going to win Pharmacare as well.” He continued by saying, “We are going to force this government to finally bring in legislation to lay the groundwork for Pharmacare, to bring down the cost of medication for everyone, and to deliver a universal public Pharmacare that includes medication coverage for all.”
