The Major Crime Section of the Saskatoon Police Service says there was no foul play in the death of a male struck by a train Monday around 8:30 a.m. during the morning commute. The collision occurred near the 1800 block of Avenue F North which is a no-thru street bordered by the railway tracks. Traffic restrictions from around 33rd Street West and Edmonton Avenue to Avenue D North were lifted around 3:30 p.m. The investigation will now be conducted by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service.
This is the third train-related collision Saskatoon has seen in recent months. A vehicle and a train collided at 11th Street W and Avenue W South in mid-September. In late august a woman received life threatening injuries after being hit by a train on 25th Street and Idylwyld Drive.
