CUPE 882 says a bargaining date has been set with the City of Prince Albert. The Union and its employer will meet Friday and an additional date has been set for the following week.
This Friday will be the third bargaining date since June 26. CUPE 882 President Cara Stelmaschuk says the union is ready to reach a deal and they hope the city is prepared to negotiate in good faith to reach a tentative agreement that works for both parties.
The union began job action August 10th, and then went on strike September 11th, impacting service levels at Prince Albert City Hall, EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts, Frank Dunn Pool, Alfred Jenkins Field House, and the Art Hauser Centre. Their first ratification vote was halted when the union learned that the city was going to maintain a call centre at City Hall that was created during the strike to manage calls. And in October a second vote was rejected by 81 per cent of the voting membership.
