From the latest round of traffic safety grants from the province, 59 communities, RMs and Indigenous lands or territories are able to make some improvements to help reduce accidents, injuries and fatalities.

Spokesperson for SGI, Tyler McMurchy says the projects range from radar speed signs in Humboldt to a pedestrian walking path in a high-risk area on Cowessess First Nation and the installation of traffic signals and signage in Swift Current.

The Traffic Safety Fund is supporting 62 projects totaling nearly $1.3 million. The program began in 2019, and since then, McMurchy says, the program has invested over $10 million in traffic safety projects. The funding comes from photo speed enforcement tickets.
Applications for the next round of applications have begun and the deadline is March 31st.
There are two rounds of funding each year.
