The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) celebrated Canada’s biggest night in music last night at The 53rd Annual JUNO Awards. Some of the June Award winners from the weekend – country album of the year: Ahead of Our Time by the James Barker Band, Adult Contemporary album, Amanda Marshall’s Heavy Lifting, and Artist of the Year Tate McRae. The JUNOS’ most decorated artist Anne Murray presented the Group of the Year award to the Beaches and Nelly Furtado was the host for the evening.
The Beaches take home Rock Album of the Year and Group of the Year. Charlotte Cardin takes home Pop Album of the Year and Album of the Year. Award-winner actor and Halifax native Elliot Page presented the prestigious 2024 Humanitarian Award to Tegan and Sara. Hip-Hop pioneer Maestro Fresh Wes was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by Canadian Hip-Hop ambassador Kardinal Offishall.
