During Question Period at the House of Commons today (Tues), the Prime Minister called Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party leadership shameful and spineless. He was asked to rephrase his comment, which he did.
Poilievre in his rebuttal called Trudeau wacko and an extremist in separate comments, which he wouldn’t withdraw so he was asked to leave the chamber. That led to all of the Conservative MPs leaving the chamber.
It was a rambunctious group on both sides of the house leading Speaker Greg Fergus to stand up multiple times urging for both sides to speak when it was their turn. The vitriol began when the Leader of the Opposition asked the Prime Minister why his government hadn’t changed its course on the decriminalization of using hard drugs in public, noting a rise in overdose deaths in British Columbia. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau then countered that Poilievre continues to court Diagolon, which he suggests is a white nationalist group. He said, “The leader opposite is showing us exactly what shameful, spineless leadership looks like. He shakes hands with white nationalists.”
Poilievre then called Trudeau wacko and an extremist in separate comments, which he wouldn’t withdraw so he was asked to leave the chamber. When he did, all the Conservative MPs followed him out.
