The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team is investigating an in-custody death in Swift Current.
SIRT says on Sunday Swift Current RCMP were asked to conduct a wellness check on a family member. Officers located the individual in question at 11:15 a.m. at a local hotel but the 55-year-old woman refused assistance. She was taken into custody under The Mental Health Services Act and placed in a waiting ambulance. While en route to hospital police say she went into medical distress and became unresponsive.
