Saskatoon Police are investigating the armed robbery of a 75-year-old woman at the Gordon Howe Campground on Avenue P South. Just before 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, police responded to a robbery in progress and were told the victim had been insider her camper when she saw a woman stealing her bike.
She confronted the woman, and then the suspect wielded a knife and demanded she go back inside. She followed her inside and stole belongings, including the keys to the victim’s truck. The 75-year-old told police that the woman then again held her at knife point and made her load everything into the truck and get in the back seat. While the suspect started the truck, the woman was able to escape to a neighbouring campsite and call for help. The victim wasn’t physically injured.
The next morning, the stolen truck was found damaged and abandoned in the 700 block of Saskatchewan Crescent West. The suspect is described as slim, about 5’2″ with red/auburn hair which was tied in a ponytail. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers. The Forensic Identification Section continues to investigate.
