The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF) says a decision will come Friday afternoon as to whether or not binding arbitration will be used to reach a new provincial collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
In a news release, the STF says they are currently engaged in a member consultation process regarding the use of binding arbitration. The STF has been without a contract since August 31st of last year with negotiations in an on-and-off cycle since May of 2023. The latest bargaining impasse was declared on June 5th as the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee (TBC) rejected the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee’s (GTBC) offer of binding arbitration as it didn’t include class complexity. The GTBC revised the offer back on Saturday to include class complexity to accountability framework as well as wages.
