Environment Canada has released the rainfall amounts which are from noon yesterday (Thurs) to noon today, and the numbers have the Last Mountain area with the highest amount at 69.5 millimetres, (2.7″) followed by Yorkton with 60.6 and Kindersley with 49.5. Saskatoon received 35.2 millimetres in that time period.
Environment Canada meteorologist, Terri Lang, says there is no rain in the forecast for Saturday and most of Sunday and then there could be some thunder showers late in the day.and then periods of rain for Canada Day. The temperatures continue to be below average. Lang says they should be running in the mid 20s for this time of year but instead we are around the 20 degree mark. “Trying to warm up by the middle of next week, so we are keeping our fingers crossed on that one.”
She notes that Environment Canada’s numbers may differ from others, but their gauges are read every six hours and she doesn’t know the length of time between readings elsewhere.
Storm Chaser Jenny Hagan has been receiving unofficial reports on rainfall, which includes the Village of Smiley in the R.M. of Prairiedale with totals anywhere from 187 to 267 millimetres of rain as of this morning. That’s 7 to 10.5 inches. Also reported to Hagan, a resident of Major measured 114 mm, and in Rosetown, the unofficial number this morning was 102 mm.
