Saskatoon city administration is presenting a name and brand as well as marketing for the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system for council to consider at next week’s Governance and Priorities committee meeting. “Link” is the proposed name, and it will still fall under the umbrella Saskatoon Transit.
A news release from the City says their research indicates other North American cities show giving the BRT a distinct identity is essential to its success. The proposed “Link” brand will refer exclusively to the rapid transit routes currently identified as the red, green, and blue lines.
The news release also states that construction of part of the transit signal priority system and the start of construction of 14 of the BRT stations’ concrete platforms is expected to begin this summer with work on another 30 stations slated for 2025.
