It sounds like something you only hear about in the movies. On June 26th, La Ronge RCMP were alerted about an injured person at the local hospital and from the ensuing investigation, determine a man took three adults known to him to a rural location in the La Ronge detachment area. They were threatened with a gun and assaulted, including each of them having a finger severed.
A warrant was issued for the 30-year-old man’s arrest. He was found at a home in La Ronge on August 9th and arrested without incident. The numerous charges for Kaylen Charles of La Ronge include five counts of aggravated assault, two counts of choking, two counts of assault with a weapon, mischief over $5,000 and failing to comply with release order conditions. He was also wanted on a warrant separately for cutting off a device monitoring his court-ordered curfew on June 20th. He appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday.
