Tisdale RCMP say they are still investigating the potential cause of a single vehicle school bus accident south of Tisdale on Monday afternoon around 4 o’clock.
However, they do have an update on the status of those riding the bus. At the time of the collision, 27 children, between 14 and 17 years old and an adult bus driver were on the bus. Everyone is from the Tisdale detachment area.
Twenty-six children and the bus driver were transported to hospital by EMS and by parents. One child was flown to hospital in Saskatoon by STARS Air Ambulance. Twenty-one children have injuries described as non-life threatening and six children have injuries described as serious in nature. The adult driver of the bus has injuries described as serious in nature.
Tisdale RCMP thanks the first responders who assisted in the response to the collision, including Melfort RCMP and Melfort, Tisdale and Naicam EMS. As well they thank the teachers, parents, and community members of Kinistin Saulteaux Nation who offered their support at the scene.
