The Saskatoon Police Service says a man taken into custody Tuesday night allegedly spit and bit a Constable shortly after arriving at Detention.
The call started just after 9:30 p.m. when police received a report of a weapons call in the 1900 block of 22nd Street West. The officers were updated on the situation – that a man had been removed from that address earlier in the day but had returned.
The individual was located and arrested for a weapons investigation. Police believe he was under the influence of an intoxicant and say he provided false names to the officers and became disruptive.
They were able to identify the man and learned he had several warrants out of Saskatoon and Prince Albert. At the SPS Detention, during a search of his person, police say they located a small knife.
A 22 year old man has been charged with various weapons offences, obstruction of police, and two counts of assaulting a police officer. The man was also found to be breaching his court-ordered conditions.
